Privacy Policy

Cinamour is a dating app for film lovers, currently in development. This policy covers two things: the waitlist at cinamour.app, which is live now, and the Cinamour app, which is not yet released. The app sections describe how the product is built today. This policy will be updated, and you will be asked to review it, before the app opens to the public.

Draft, pending professional legal review. This policy was written from how Cinamour is actually built, and it describes real data handling, but it has not been reviewed by a lawyer and it does not yet name a legal entity, registered address or data controller. Those details will be added before the app launches.

Cinamour is for adults. You must be 18 or older to join the waitlist or to use the app.

1. What the waitlist collects

When you submit the form on cinamour.app, Cinamour stores:

Your email address: so we can send you one message when Cinamour launches.
Your country and city: chosen from a list, not free text. This is used in aggregate to see where film lovers are concentrated, so Cinamour knows where to focus before and after launch.
The channel you arrived from: for example whether you came from a link on TikTok or Instagram, taken from the ?ref= or utm_source parameter in the URL.
A hashed form of your IP address: kept only to rate-limit sign-ups so the list cannot be flooded. The raw IP address is not stored.

The waitlist does not create an account, does not set advertising cookies, and does not build a profile of you. Your email is not sold, rented, or shared with advertisers.

2. What the Cinamour app collects

Creating a Cinamour account means creating a dating profile. The app collects what it needs to build that profile and show it to other members:

Account details: your email address, or your Google account if you sign in with Google.
Date of birth: used to confirm you are 18 or older and to display your age.
Country and city, and, if you grant the permission, your device location, used to show how far away other members are and to apply your distance preference.
Photos you add to your profile or send in a chat.
Gender, who you want to see, your age range and distance preferences.
Your films: the showcase films and favorite directors you pick, and your answers to film prompts.
Letterboxd data, only if you choose to connect it: see section 3.
Activity in the app: who you passed on, liked, spotlighted, matched with, and the messages you send.
Reports and blocks you submit or that are submitted about you, kept in a private moderation record.
Notification preferences and, if you enable push notifications, a device push token.

3. Letterboxd

Connecting Letterboxd is optional and Cinamour works fully without it. If you connect it, you do so by downloading your own data export from Letterboxd and uploading that file while signed in to Cinamour. Cinamour never asks for your Letterboxd password and does not sign in on your behalf.

Cinamour also reads your Letterboxd username from the name of the export file, and then follows your public Letterboxd RSS feed. That feed is how your Letterboxd Card stays current after the first upload: new entries in it update your films watched, your films this year, and your last watched film with its rating. This is an ongoing request to letterboxd.com, made at most once every 24 hours by Cinamour's servers rather than from your device, and it reads only what your public feed already publishes. If your Letterboxd profile is not public there is no feed to read, and your card stays at whatever the export contained. Disconnecting Letterboxd stops these requests.

From that export Cinamour reads your watched films, your ratings and watch dates, and your own written reviews. Your reviews stay private to you.

What becomes visible to other people is your Letterboxd Card, which shows your total films watched, films watched this year, and your last watched film with your rating. The card opens your film library: the full list of films you have watched, with your rating on each one. Anyone who can see your profile can open it and browse the whole list. Connecting Letterboxd is how you publish that list, so connect it only if you are comfortable with it being seen. Disconnecting Letterboxd or deleting your account removes this data.

4. Photo moderation

Profile photos are checked automatically before they can appear in discovery. New photos stay private and hidden until that check completes. The check is performed by Amazon Rekognition, an image-analysis service operated by Amazon Web Services, which returns content labels used to approve or reject the photo. Cinamour records the automated decision and the returned labels in a private audit record. If the check cannot be completed, the photo stays hidden rather than being published unchecked.

5. Who processes your data

Cinamour uses a small number of service providers, each for a specific job:

Supabase: database, authentication, file storage and server functions for both the waitlist and the app.
Vercel: hosting and delivery for cinamour.app, including standard server request logs.
Amazon Web Services (Rekognition): automated profile-photo moderation.
Google: sign-in with Google, if you choose it. Google Fonts serves the typefaces used on this website.
The Movie Database (TMDB): film and director information, posters and portraits. Film searches are sent through Cinamour's own server, not directly from your device on this website.
Letterboxd: only if you connect it. Cinamour's servers request your public RSS feed, at most once every 24 hours, to keep your Letterboxd Card current. No account access, no password.
Expo: delivery of push notifications, if you enable them.

Cinamour does not sell your personal data and does not share it with advertising networks.

6. Analytics on this website

cinamour.app may use Google Analytics to count visits and understand which channels bring people to the waitlist. It is not used to identify you individually. If analytics is not configured for a given deployment, no analytics script is loaded at all.

7. What other people can see

Your Cinamour profile (your photos, first name, age, city, films, directors, prompt answers, your About and, if connected, your Letterboxd Card and the film library it opens) is visible to other members inside the app. It is not public on the web and it is not indexed by search engines. Nothing on this website exposes any member's profile: the single profile shown in the "A peek inside" section belongs to Cinamour's own founder, published deliberately and with his own data.

Your email address, date of birth, exact location and message contents are never shown on your profile.

8. How long data is kept

Waitlist entries are kept until Cinamour launches and the launch email has been sent, or until you ask for yours to be removed. App data is kept while your account exists.

Deleting your Cinamour account deletes your authentication record, profile, photos and their stored files, your entire imported film library, your rate-limit records, and your private moderation and report records. Limited records may be retained where the law requires it or where they are needed to enforce a ban after a serious safety report.

9. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export or delete your data, to object to or restrict certain processing, and to complain to your local data protection authority. Account deletion is available inside the app. For anything else, or to be removed from the waitlist, email huseyin@cinamour.app.

10. Children

Cinamour is not for anyone under 18. Accounts found to belong to minors are removed. If you believe a minor has joined, contact huseyin@cinamour.app.

11. Changes

This policy will change as Cinamour is built, and substantially before the app launches. The date at the top of this page shows the current version. Material changes will be communicated by email to the address on your account or waitlist entry.
