Bring your films

Import your Letterboxd or hand-pick the films that say the most about you.

2

Match on shared taste

Meet people whose taste clicks with yours. No percentages to obsess over.

3

Start with a film

Skip the "hey." Open with something you both love.

A peek inside

This is what it looks like.

Questions

Before you join.

What is Cinamour?

Cinamour is a dating app for film lovers. Your profile is built from the films and directors you love: showcase films, favorite directors and film-based prompts. You meet people through taste instead of small talk. It is in development; the waitlist is how you get in first.

How does Cinamour use movies in a profile?

Films are the profile, not a detail on it. You pick up to three showcase films, choose your favorite directors, and answer film prompts such as “The film that made me cry the most” or “The film I most love to argue about.” Connect Letterboxd and your whole film library sits there too, so someone sees not just the three films you picked but everything you have actually watched.

Do I need a Letterboxd account to use Cinamour?

No. Connecting Letterboxd is optional, and onboarding asks for it once the basics are done. If you do, Cinamour reads your own private Letterboxd data export and builds a Letterboxd Card on your profile: how many films you have watched, how many this year, and your last watched film with your rating. You import once and the card stays current after that, so the counts and your last watched film keep moving as you log films on Letterboxd. The card also opens your film library, which anyone who can see your profile can browse. Skip it and you simply do not have a Letterboxd Card on your profile, or the film library it opens.

How does Cinamour import my Letterboxd history?

Onboarding does most of it. Tap the download button and it opens the right page on Letterboxd; you sign in there, on Letterboxd's own site, and the export downloads itself. You upload that file, and that is the whole of your side of it. The export becomes your Letterboxd Card and your film library. Your Letterboxd username is taken from the export's own filename, and Cinamour then follows your public Letterboxd RSS feed, checked once a day, so the card keeps up with what you watch without you touching it again. Cinamour never sees your Letterboxd password and never signs in as you; the feed is the same public one anyone can subscribe to. If your Letterboxd profile is private there is no feed, and the card stays at whatever the export contained.

Does Cinamour show a movie compatibility percentage?

No. Cinamour shows no compatibility score anywhere, and nothing in discovery is ranked or filtered by one: the people around you come up in random order. The films and directors you have in common sit on the profile where you can read them yourself and decide.

How does matching work on Cinamour?

Mutual opt-in, like most dating apps: you pass or like people in discovery, and when two people like each other it becomes a match and a conversation opens. Spotlight is the stronger signal you can send when you really want someone to notice you: the person you send it to can see that the like came from you, whether or not they have Cinamour+.

Can I choose who I see?

Yes. You set who you want to see, an age range, and a distance, from your own city out to worldwide. Expand search is a separate switch, marked recommended in onboarding: with it on, Cinamour shows your selected distance first and, when that pool runs out, keeps your preferences and looks farther out rather than showing you people you did not ask for. With it off, your distance stays exactly where you put it.

Is Cinamour only for serious cinephiles?

No. There is no minimum number of films watched. Three films you would defend is enough to build a profile, whether you have logged forty films or four thousand.

When does Cinamour launch, and how do I get in?

Cinamour has not launched yet. The target is late September or early October 2026, on the App Store and Google Play. Join the waitlist with your email and city, and you get one email when it goes live.
